Henry Romero, selected in 2016 as a member of GenOne's Inaugural cohort of Scholars at Eastway Middle School, gives insight during his freshman year of college how he was doing as a first year QuestBridge Scholar at Emory University! Henry has been a part of GenOne's College Access program for the last seven years. In this episode, Henry dives into how friends, family, and trusted mentorship provide critical support for first generation college students.
Henry completed two years in our Middle School Readiness program and four years in our High School Preparation and Access programs, where he received 1:1 wrap-around college application support, college essay writing coaches and scholarship application support. He is currently enrolled in our College Persistence and Success program. His determination, perseverance and achievement have been inspirational for all the years we have been honored to work with him. He has taught us more than we have taught him, that is for sure!
